Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt Pledge to Refurbish 20 Schools as Ranveer Singh Backs Education for 1,000 Girls

Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have pledged to refurbish 20 schools in Mumbai, while Ranveer Singh has committed to supporting the education of 1,000 girls. The announcements were made on September 17, 2026, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and to support the Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan campaign.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan is a month-long initiative launched to commemorate 25 years of Prime Minister Modi’s public service. The campaign runs from September 17 to October 17 and encourages public figures and institutions to contribute to welfare activities, including education and skill development.

Alia Bhatt shared the pledge on her social media account. She stated that the schools would be selected based on recommendations from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, also known as the BMC.

Bhatt wrote in her post, ‘Happy Birthday to our Hon’ble Prime Minister @narendramodi ji! Wishing you a healthy and fulfilling year ahead. The spirit of #SevaSankalpAbhiyaan reflects a wonderful vision of collective action and giving back. To mark this day and support the cause, Ranbir and I are pledging to refurbish 20 schools as per the recommendations of @mybmc, helping create brighter, better-equipped spaces for our children to learn and thrive.’

The couple’s pledge focuses on improving physical infrastructure for municipal schools across Mumbai. The stated goal is to create better-equipped learning environments for children in the city.

Ranveer Singh made his announcement during a visit to the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal in Mumbai for Ganesh Chaturthi. He wore a white kurta and offered prayers before speaking to the media.

Singh said he visited the pandal to express gratitude for the past year and to seek blessings for the future. He and his wife, Deepika Padukone, are reportedly expecting their second child this month.

Singh said, ‘It feels wonderful to be here. By Bappa’s grace, the past year has been filled with happiness for both me and my family. So, we have come here to seek His darshan, to express our gratitude, and to receive His blessings for the journey ahead—for the journey of life.’

He then announced his pledge to support girls’ education through the campaign.

Singh said, ‘On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi and the birthday of our respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, I pledge to support the education of 1,000 daughters by joining the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’. I hope that this pleases Bappa and that His blessings remain with us always.’

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan was announced by BJP National President Nitin Nabin on September 9. The campaign frames itself around Prime Minister Modi’s completion of 25 years in public service, a milestone that falls on October 7.

Beyond the education pledges, the campaign includes a range of public welfare activities such as blood donation drives, health camps, cleanliness initiatives, and tree plantation programs. Other film personalities, including actor Ram Charan, have also joined the initiative with pledges focused on women’s skill development.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were married in April 2022 and have a daughter. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone married in November 2018 and welcomed their first child in 2024.
